The ZENPU Range
ZENPU is POLYZEN's range of polyurethane and hybrid (EPU) flooring systems, available in four formulated grades — Coat, Level, Cretescreed, and Hybrid. Each is a pre-measured kit engineered for a specific demand, from UV-stable protective coatings to heavy-duty PU cement screeds and shock-absorbing sports floors. Why these systems are the default below freezing is explained in cold storage flooring.
Four Systems, One Standard
ZENPU Coat
A flexible polyurethane coating that seals and protects floors with UV-stable colour retention and resistance to abrasion, chemicals and yellowing.
- Decks, coated floors & topcoats
- UV-stable, non-yellowing
- Flexible, abrasion-resistant
ZENPU Level
A self-leveling polyurethane that flows into a smooth, seamless floor with greater flexibility and thermal tolerance than epoxy — comfortable underfoot and easy to clean.
- Commercial, healthcare & light industry
- Seamless, flexible, hygienic
- Better thermal & impact tolerance
ZENPU Cretescreed
A heavy-duty polyurethane cement screed built to survive thermal shock, steam cleaning, heavy traffic and aggressive chemicals — the standard for food, beverage and wet processing floors.
- Food, beverage & wet processing
- Thermal-shock & steam-clean resistant
- Maximum chemical & mechanical duty
ZENPU Hybrid
A hybrid epoxy-polyurethane system engineered for resilience and shock absorption — combining durability with cushioned comfort for sports, recreation and high-footfall areas.
- Sports halls, gyms & play areas
- Shock-absorbing & resilient
- Comfortable, slip-resistant finish

Which ZENPU System Should You Choose?
The right system depends on the duty, exposure and feel you need. Use this quick guide — or request a free surface assessment and we'll specify it for you.
For decks, coated floors and surfaces needing a tough, non-yellowing topcoat that resists abrasion and chemicals.
For commercial, healthcare and light-industrial spaces wanting a flexible, hygienic, jointless PU surface.
For food, beverage and wet processing plants that demand a heavy-duty PU cement screed built for thermal shock.
For sports halls, gyms and play areas that need a cushioned, durable, slip-resistant hybrid floor.
ZENPU — Common Questions
PU is not one product but a family, and thickness decides what the floor can survive. As a general industry guide: a PU coating sits at around 1 mm and below for dry areas where colour and cleanability matter; a PU self-levelling build at roughly 2 to 4 mm for mild cleaning and a smooth finish; a PU screed at roughly 3 to 6 mm for hot washdown and forklift traffic; heavier builds above 6 mm where steam cleaning and boiling spillage are involved; and commonly 9 mm for severe thermal cycling and cold store duty. The build specified for your floor is per the product TDS and the site survey.
Only at the right build. Steam cleaning and boiling spillage are the duty of a heavy PU screed, commonly the 9 mm build, and putting steam on a thin PU coating or a light self-levelling build is how these floors fail early. If steam is part of your cleaning regime, say so before the specification is written, not after.
Coat is a two-part aliphatic UV-stable PU coating. Level is a three-part non-cementitious flexible PU self-leveller. Cretescreed is a three-part PU cement screed, trowel-applied, and is the heavy-duty member of the range. Hybrid is a three-part EPU system for sports and comfort floors. Build and coverage for each are per the product TDS.
Because of heat, water and chemistry together. Epoxy is excellent for abrasion, chemical spillage and a seamless hygienic finish, but PU cement handles thermal shock and hot washdown far better. Where a floor is hosed with hot water, steamed, or swings between cold store and ambient, PU concrete is normally the correct answer. The full comparison is in epoxy versus PU flooring.
Yes, and this is one of the duties it is specified for. Cold store floors face thermal cycling rather than a single low temperature, and that cycling is what cracks and debonds the wrong system. The heaviest builds are used where the swing is severe. What actually decides a cold store floor is set out in our cold storage flooring guide.
It is one of its most common uses. Food and beverage floors combine hot washdown, organic acids, fats and constant water, which is the exact combination PU cement is built for. Which system suits which area of a plant is covered in our food and beverage plant flooring guide.
There is no single per-square-foot figure, because the build decides it: a 1 mm coating and a 9 mm screed are different systems at different costs. Slab condition, preparation, area and downtime move it further. For an indicative budget in about two minutes, without a call, use CostMyFloor. A firm quotation follows a site survey.
