OVERVIEW

Flooring for Pharmaceutical & Life Sciences

Pharmaceutical & Life Sciences facilities demand floors that are seamless, hygienic and chemically resistant. POLYZEN engineers monolithic epoxy and PU systems with integral coving, cleanable non-porous finishes and CIP / disinfectant resistance — surfaces that withstand frequent washdown while supporting GMP, cleanroom and quality-control requirements across India and export-grade manufacturing.

INDUSTRY REQUIREMENTS

What a Pharma Floor Must Deliver

Every requirement below maps to a hygienic-design or compliance driver — not a cosmetic one.

01

Seamless & Monolithic

No joints or gaps where contamination can settle or microbes can harbour.

02

Hygiene & Cleanability

Non-porous, smooth finishes built for routine washdown and disinfection.

03

Chemical & CIP Resistance

Withstands solvents, acids, alkalis and clean-in-place disinfectant cycles.

04

Integral Coving

Floor-to-wall coving removes 90° dirt traps for cleanroom-grade hygiene.

05

Moisture / MVT Control

Slab moisture management to protect the system and the warranty.

06

ESD Control

Static-controlled finishes where instruments and electronics demand it.

07

Slip Resistance

Engineered texture for wet-process, wash bays and circulation safety.

08

Fast Return-to-Service

Low-odour systems and planned phasing to minimise facility downtime.

03
STANDARDS & COMPLIANCE

Engineered to Support Compliance

POLYZEN systems are specified to support the frameworks your facility is qualified against — from India regulatory baseline to export-grade GMP.

TIER 1 · INDIA

Revised Schedule M

Supports premises requirements under the Drugs & Cosmetics Rules with non-shedding, crack-free, easily-cleanable surfaces.

TIER 2 · GMP

WHO-GMP

Supports hygienic-design expectations for impervious, jointless floor and coving surfaces.

TIER 2 · GMP

EU-GMP Annex 1

Supports contamination-control strategy with smooth, cleanable, disinfectant-resistant finishes for sterile and aseptic zones.

TIER 2 · GMP

US FDA cGMP (21 CFR 211)

Supports cGMP facility-design intent through durable, sanitary and maintainable surfaces.

TIER 3 · CLEANROOM

ISO 14644

Supports classified cleanroom environments with low-particulate, non-flaking, smooth finishes.

Material performance values are stated Per TDS. POLYZEN supplies and applies flooring systems engineered to support facility compliance; certification and qualification of the facility remain with the operator.

CRITICAL ZONES MAP

The Right System for Each Zone

A pharmaceutical facility is not one floor — it is many. POLYZEN specifies zone-by-zone, not one finish for everything.

FAQ

Pharmaceutical & Life Sciences — FAQ

What type of flooring is best for pharmaceutical manufacturing?
Seamless, monolithic epoxy or PU systems with integral coving are preferred, because they are non-shedding, chemically resistant and easy to clean. POLYZEN typically specifies ZENFLOR Sovereign for sterile and production zones, with ZENPU Cretescreed in wet and thermal areas.
Does POLYZEN flooring support GMP and Schedule M compliance?
POLYZEN systems are engineered to support compliance with Revised Schedule M, WHO-GMP, EU-GMP Annex 1, US FDA cGMP and ISO 14644 by providing impervious, jointless, cleanable surfaces. Certification and qualification of the facility itself remain with the operator.
Can the flooring withstand CIP chemicals and frequent disinfection?
Yes. The recommended systems are formulated for resistance to solvents, acids, alkalis and routine clean-in-place disinfection cycles. Specific chemical-resistance values are stated Per TDS for each system.
Is ESD-controlled flooring available for QC and instrumentation areas?
Yes. ZENSTAT Dissipative provides static control for QC labs, instrumentation rooms and electronics-sensitive zones, and can be integrated alongside standard epoxy floors elsewhere in the facility.
How is floor-to-wall coving handled in cleanrooms?
Integral coving is built as a continuous radius between floor and wall, eliminating 90° corners where contamination collects. This is standard for cleanroom and aseptic specifications.
What about slab moisture in pharmaceutical facilities?
Substrate moisture (MVT) is tested during the inspection stage. Where elevated, a moisture-management approach is specified before the floor system is applied, protecting both performance and the warranty.
