OVERVIEW

Flooring for Airports & Aviation

An airport is several demanding facilities under one operation. Terminals carry enormous footfall and must stay flawless; hangars and MRO bays face jet fuel, hydraulic fluid and heavy equipment; avionics workshops and fuel zones need controlled static; and flight catering runs an industrial kitchen. POLYZEN engineers terminal-scale, fuel-resistant, ESD-controlled and food-safe systems across the whole footprint — landside to airside.

INDUSTRY REQUIREMENTS

What an Airport Floor Must Deliver

Each requirement below maps to operational uptime, safety or asset protection.

01

Terminal-Scale Durability

Seamless floors that survive enormous, continuous passenger footfall.

02

Fuel & Hydraulic Resistance

Hangar and MRO floors that resist jet fuel, hydraulic fluid and oils.

03

ESD Control

Static-controlled avionics workshops and grounded fuel-handling zones.

04

Heavy-Equipment Loads

Withstands ground-support equipment, tugs and baggage systems.

05

Slip Safety

Engineered grip for terminals, wet zones and apron-side areas.

06

Food-Safe Catering

Thermal-shock, slip-safe systems supporting flight-kitchen hygiene.

07

Demarcation & Wayfinding

Line marking for passenger flow, safety zones and equipment lanes.

08

Operational-Window Installation

Phased, rapid-cure options to work around 24/7 airport operations.

03
STANDARDS & COMPLIANCE

Engineered to Support Aviation Standards

POLYZEN systems are specified to support the durability, ESD and safety frameworks airport facilities are assessed against.

TIER 1 · AVIATION

Hangar & MRO Durability

Supports fuel, hydraulic-fluid and abrasion resistance for hangar and maintenance floors.

TIER 1 · ESD

IEC 61340-5-1

Supports static control in avionics workshops and fuel-handling zones.

TIER 1 · SAFETY

Fire & Safe Egress

Supports low-shedding surfaces and clear egress for high-occupancy terminals.

TIER 2 · SAFETY

Slip Resistance

Supports passenger and worker safety in terminals, wet and apron-side areas.

TIER 3 · GREEN

IGBC / LEED

Supports green-airport credits with low-VOC, long-life, low-maintenance systems.

Material performance values are stated Per TDS. POLYZEN supplies and applies flooring systems engineered to support airport durability, ESD and safety frameworks; certification of the facility remains with the operator.

FAQ

Aviation Flooring — FAQ

What is the best flooring for an airport terminal?
Seamless self-leveling epoxy (ZENFLOR Pro) is the standard for terminal concourses and check-in halls — durable, easy to clean and able to take enormous continuous footfall. Premium lounges can use decorative finishes.
What flooring is required for an aircraft hangar or MRO?
Hangars and maintenance bays use heavy-duty chemical-resistant epoxy (ZENFLOR Sovereign) engineered to resist jet fuel, hydraulic fluid, oils and heavy equipment loads. Resistance values are stated Per TDS.
Does the flooring resist jet fuel, hydraulic fluid and chemicals?
Yes. The hangar and MRO systems are formulated to resist jet fuel, hydraulic fluid, oils and process chemicals. The full chemical-resistance profile is stated Per TDS.
Is ESD flooring needed in airport facilities?
Yes, in static-sensitive zones. Avionics and electronics workshops use static-dissipative flooring (ZENSTAT Dissipative), while fuel-handling and hazard zones use grounded conductive flooring (ZENSTAT Conductive), engineered to support IEC 61340-5-1.
What flooring is used for flight catering kitchens?
Flight catering kitchens use food-grade PU concrete (ZENPU Cretescreed) that resists thermal shock, organic acids and fats while supporting FSSAI and HACCP hygiene.
Can work be done without disrupting airport operations?
Yes. Work can be sequenced and phased zone-by-zone, with rapid-cure options to fit around 24/7 operations and minimise downtime.
