Epoxy / PU Floor Repair
& Rectification

A running floor rarely needs replacing. Failed bays, torn joints and delaminated patches are cut out, prepared and rebuilt in the same system family as the floor around them, so the repair blends in and the area goes back to traffic on a planned shift.

OVERVIEW

What rectification covers

Rectification is the work that sits between a diagnosis and a full replacement. Delaminated bays are cut back to sound material and rebuilt, worn or damaged patches are cut square and refilled, joints that have torn or spalled are re-formed, and blistered areas are opened, dried and closed. The system used matches what is already on the floor, so the repaired area behaves like the rest of it under the same traffic and the same chemicals.

HOW THE REPAIR IS BUILT

The repair, layer by layer

A repair holds because of what happens under it. The build runs from the exposed base upwards.

Topcoat & Finish

Blended To Floor

The repaired area is closed with the same topcoat family and finish as the surrounding floor, so slip character, cleanability and appearance stay consistent across the bay.

POLYZEN APPLIED SYSTEM

Delivered as a POLYZEN Applied System

This rectification is delivered as a POLYZEN Applied System, surveyed, specified and installed turnkey by trained applicators. The repair system, its build thickness and the finish are selected to match the existing floor, its exposure and the traffic it carries.

04
METHOD & INTEGRITY

How the repair is specified

The repair system is chosen from what the existing floor is, what caused the failure, and what the area has to withstand afterwards. POLYZEN states the build it will lay and confirms finished values on the product technical data sheet. It does not publish fabricated figures.

Mechanism
Cut back, prepare, rebuild in system
Bond
Primer or bond coat at every interface
Outcome
Level, bond & finish restored
POLYZEN Values
Per Product TDS

Repair system, build thickness, edge treatment and finish are specified per area, exposure and the cause established at audit. Where the failure is structural rather than a surface problem, a structural engineer input is recommended. POLYZEN confirms finished values on the product technical data sheet.

HOW IT IS CARRIED OUT

Four steps on site

01

Mark And Cut

Failed areas are marked with your team, agreed as a scope, and cut square to sound material.

02

Prepare

Base and edges are ground or blasted, cleaned and dried to the profile the system needs.

03

Rebuild

Primer, body and finish are laid in the matching system, level with the surrounding floor.

04

Cure And Hand Back

The area is cured to the stated schedule and released back to traffic on an agreed shift.

WARRANTY

Warranty on rectified areas

Rectified areas carried out by POLYZEN are covered by a written warranty issued with the completion documents. It covers the area repaired and the system laid. Where the underlying cause sits outside the agreed repair scope, that is stated in writing before the work begins rather than after it fails. The standard period on resin flooring systems is 12 months from handover, extendable to 24 months by written agreement, and applied waterproofing carries 5 years as standard. FAQ

Floor repair and rectification questions

Can a failed epoxy floor be repaired instead of replaced?
In most cases, yes. Where the slab is sound and the failure is limited to bays, patches or joints, those areas are cut out and rebuilt in the matching system, which is faster and far less disruptive than lifting an entire floor.
Will the repair be visible?
A repair is rarely invisible. The rebuilt area is laid level with the surrounding floor and finished in the same system, but colour and gloss on an aged floor will differ from new material. Where appearance matters, a full bay or a full recoat is the honest answer.
How is a repair kept from lifting again?
The failed area is cut square rather than feathered, base and edges are prepared to profile, and a primer or bond coat is used at every interface. Feathered edges and unprepared bases are the two common reasons repairs fail a second time.
Do you repair floors installed by someone else?
Yes. The existing system is established first, and the repair is laid in a compatible system so the new material bonds to it and behaves with the floor around it.
How long before the area can take traffic?
It depends on the system laid, the thickness and the site temperature. The cure and return-to-service schedule is stated for that specific system before work starts, and the shift is planned around it.
Can repairs be done without stopping production?
Often, yes, by working bay by bay on agreed shifts with the area barriered off. The sequence is planned with your team so access, traffic and cure time do not collide.
What if the same area fails again?
That points to an unresolved cause rather than a repair defect, and it is worth an audit before repeating the work. Floor Failure Diagnosis
