PU Exposed
Deck SystemFLEXIBLE · UV-STABLE · WATERPROOF

A flexible, crack-bridging PU membrane system for sun-exposed rooftop and podium decks — a seamless, UV-stable, waterproof wearing surface that walks the line between a trafficable deck and a watertight roof, flexing with daily thermal movement instead of cracking under it.

OVERVIEW

What is a PU Exposed Deck System?

A PU exposed deck system is a flexible, liquid-applied polyurethane membrane built for decks that are open to the sky — rooftop terraces, podium slabs and exposed walkways. Unlike a rigid epoxy parking deck, an exposed deck must survive direct sun, soaking rain and the constant expansion and contraction that comes with both. The system lays a UV-stable, crack-bridging PU membrane over a mechanically prepared, primed slab and finishes it with a trafficable wearing coat — giving one seamless surface that is waterproof like a roof yet walkable like a deck. It is the right answer wherever a deck is both exposed and needs to stay watertight.

THE POLYZEN SYSTEM

How the System Is Built

An exposed deck is built up as a flexible, seamless skin over a sound, mechanically prepared slab — waterproof below, walkable above. Tap any layer to see its role.

Trafficable & Sun-Stable

A UV-stable polyurethane wearing coat finishes the deck, protecting the membrane from sunlight and foot traffic and giving a controlled anti-skid surface for an exposed, walkable terrace. System values: Per TDS.

POLYZEN APPLIED SYSTEM

Engineered & Installed by POLYZEN

The PU exposed deck system is delivered as a POLYZEN Applied System — surveyed, designed and installed turnkey by POLYZEN's trained applicators, with membrane build, reinforcement detailing and UV wearing coat specified to your deck's exposure, traffic and drainage.

04
WHY IT WORKS

Built for Sun, Rain & Movement

An exposed deck takes the worst of both worlds — the weather load of a roof and the foot traffic of a floor. A rigid coating would crack; this system is engineered to flex. Performance is confirmed on the project specification.

POLYZEN Values
Per Project Specification

Membrane type, dry-film thickness and wearing coat are specified per deck exposure, traffic and drainage. POLYZEN confirms finished values on the project specification and does not publish fabricated figures.

The Application Process

01

Inspect & Assess

Survey exposure, slope and drainage, check moisture and review the existing deck and finishes.

02

Prepare & Prime

Diamond-grind or shot-blast the slab, repair cracks, correct falls, detail drains and upstands, then prime.

03

Membrane & Reinforce

Reinforced base PU coat at junctions → top membrane coat to full thickness → continuous waterproof skin.

04

Wear-Coat & Handover

UV-stable anti-skid wearing coat, flood/ponding test, final inspection and written warranty.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a PU exposed deck system?
It is a flexible, liquid-applied polyurethane membrane for decks open to the sky — rooftop terraces, podium slabs and exposed walkways. A UV-stable, crack-bridging PU membrane is built up over a mechanically prepared, primed slab and finished with a trafficable wearing coat, giving one seamless surface that is waterproof like a roof yet walkable like a deck.
How is it different from an epoxy parking deck?
An epoxy parking deck is a rigid, high-build system for covered vehicular floors. A PU exposed deck is flexible and UV-stable, made for sun-exposed surfaces that expand and contract daily and must stay watertight. Where a rigid coating would eventually crack under that movement, the PU membrane flexes and bridges cracks. POLYZEN selects the right system during survey.
Can the deck be walked on?
Yes. The system is finished with a UV-stable, anti-skid wearing coat designed for foot traffic, so the deck is fully trafficable for terraces, podiums and amenity areas. It is engineered for pedestrian use rather than vehicular parking load.
Is it fully waterproof?
Yes. The PU membrane forms a continuous, seamless, crack-bridging skin with reinforcement detailed at drains, upstands and movement joints — the points where exposed decks usually leak. Each installation is flood or ponding tested before handover to confirm it is watertight.
Is this a POLYZEN product?
The PU exposed deck system is delivered as a POLYZEN Applied System — surveyed, designed and installed turnkey by POLYZEN. Membrane build, reinforcement detailing and UV wearing coat are specified to your deck during survey.
Does POLYZEN provide a warranty?
Yes. Every installation is flood or ponding tested and handed over with a final inspection and a written system warranty, with terms confirmed per project scope, exposure and substrate condition.
