A pressure-resistant tanking system for below-ground structures — crystalline and cementitious layers that seal concrete against the constant hydrostatic push of groundwater, defeating rising damp, seepage and water-table pressure on both positive and negative faces.

OVERVIEW

What is Basement Waterproofing?

Basement waterproofing is a below-ground tanking system that seals a structure against the constant pressure of groundwater pushing in from the surrounding soil. Unlike a roof, a basement is fought from two directions: water can be held back from the outside (positive side) or driven back from the inside (negative side) once it has reached the wall. POLYZEN combines crystalline technology — which grows into the concrete's capillaries and self-seals hairline cracks — with cementitious tanking coats and reinforced wall-to-floor coving, creating a continuous barrier engineered to resist hydrostatic pressure, rising damp and seepage for the life of the structure.

THE POLYZEN SYSTEM

How the System Is Built

A basement is tanked from the inside out — crystalline into the concrete, cementitious over it, reinforced at the weakest joint. Tap any layer to see its role.

Cementitious Tanking Coat

Surface Barrier

A polymer-modified cementitious tanking coat is applied over the crystalline layer to form a tough, continuous surface barrier that holds back water even under negative-side pressure. System values: Per TDS.

POLYZEN APPLIED SYSTEM

Engineered & Installed by POLYZEN

Basement waterproofing is delivered as a POLYZEN Applied System — surveyed, designed and installed turnkey by POLYZEN's trained applicators, with crystalline, tanking and joint treatment specified to your water table, pressure and structure.

04
WHY IT WORKS

Engineered Against Pressure

A basement faces water that never drains away — a permanent hydrostatic load from the surrounding water table. POLYZEN's system fights it on two fronts: crystalline chemistry that becomes part of the concrete, and a tanking barrier that resists pressure from either side. Performance is confirmed on the project specification.

Per Project Specification

System selection, number of coats and joint detailing are specified per water table, pressure head and structural condition. POLYZEN confirms finished values on the project specification and does not publish fabricated figures.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is basement waterproofing?
It is a below-ground tanking system that seals a basement against groundwater pressure pushing in from the surrounding soil. POLYZEN combines crystalline technology, which grows into the concrete and self-seals hairline cracks, with cementitious tanking coats and reinforced cove detailing to resist hydrostatic pressure, rising damp and seepage.
What is the difference between positive and negative side waterproofing?
Positive-side waterproofing holds water back from the outer face, the side the water comes from. Negative-side waterproofing is applied on the inner face and drives water back after it has already reached the wall. Existing basements usually need a negative-side or combined approach, which POLYZEN determines during survey.
How does crystalline waterproofing work?
Crystalline chemicals react with moisture and free lime in the concrete to grow insoluble crystals deep inside the capillary network. These crystals block the paths water travels through and reactivate to re-seal future hairline cracks, making the concrete itself part of the waterproofing rather than just a coating on top.
Can a basement be waterproofed after it is already leaking?
Yes. Active leaks are first arrested with rapid-set plugging compounds, the wall-to-floor cove and joints are sealed, and a crystalline plus cementitious system is then applied from the negative (inner) side. POLYZEN diagnoses the ingress source and pressure during survey to choose the right strategy.
Is this a POLYZEN product?
Basement waterproofing is delivered as a POLYZEN Applied System — surveyed, designed and installed turnkey by POLYZEN. The crystalline, tanking and joint treatment are specified to your water table and structure during survey.
Does POLYZEN provide a warranty?
Yes. Every installation is cured, inspected for dryness and handed over with a written system warranty, with terms confirmed per project scope, water-table pressure and structural condition.
